Soon-To-Be Raymond Cardinal Burke!

Well, this post is a little late seeing as this was announced last week, but with all the events going on at CCM I've just now been able to get around to posting about it!
CCM is very happy to hear of the Holy Father's recent announcement that Archbishop Burke will soon be designated as a cardinal!  Pope Benedict made the announcement following last week's general audience.  We will continue to pray for our beloved Cardinal-elect Burke!  You can find out more in this story from the St. Louis Review:

Archbishop Burke will Become a Cardinal
By Joseph Kenny

Pope Benedict XVI has named Archbishop Raymond Burke, archbishop emeritus of St. Louis and prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome, as a cardinal.

The pope announced the names of new 24 cardinals at the end of his general audience Oct. 20.

“Cardinals,” said the pope, “have the task of helping Peter’s successor carry out his mission as permanent and visible source and foundation of the Church’s unity of faith and communion.”

Cardinal-designate Burke served as the eighth Archbishop of St. Louis from 2004-08.

In a statement released Oct. 20, Cardinal-designate Burke wrote: “I express my deepest gratitude to His Holiness for the great confidence which he has placed in me, and I renew my commitment to serve Him, as Shepherd of the universal Church, in total fidelity and with all my being.”

Archbishop Robert J. Carlson said the Archdiocese of St. Louis is very proud of Cardinal-designate Burke upon his elevation to the College of Cardinals.
